Emily-HagartyThe staff of the Office of Information Technology would like to congratulate

Emily Hagarty

Student Worker of the Month for June 2016

Emily has been working in IT since the summer of 2014. She is a Help Desk Assistant, and as a Graphic Design major she was a perfect candidate be one of the first students to work in the 3D Printing Studio.  During her time working in IT she has learned more about 3D printing, FTP servers, designing using software such as Rhino and Blender and has increased her overall computer and communications skills.

In addition to being an excellent worker, Emily is also an amazing athlete and student.  She is on Adelphi’s Track and Field team and her collegiate honors and awards include: USTFCCCA East All-Region Indoor Pentathlon, NE-10 Second Team All-Conference Outdoor High Jump (2014-15), NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (Spring ’15), and she was one of four Adelphi athletes to earn Academic All-Conference honors. Some of her personal hobbies include art, baking, cooking and hiking.

Here are some of the comments we received from IT staff members and other student workers who nominated her:

“Emily is one of the most dependable and reliable student workers at the Help Desk.  She is a fast learner and can cover almost every position from 3D printing assistant, lab assistant and Help Desk assistant. Emily is very quiet and reserved, and her calm demeanor helps her work with anxious callers and walk ins to give them the confidence that she is here to help.  As a studio art major she was a good fit to cross train in the 3D studio and she is one of the inaugural student workers that started in the studio from opening day.  Her creative eye blended with her techie knowledge and skills serve her well in this position.”

“Emily always seems to pick up the shifts that are least desirable to others and helps us keep the Help Desk running even when she is the only one on duty at time.  Her reliability and dependability make her a valuable asset to the team.”

“In the short time since I’ve worked here she has done a great job in the 3D Studio consistently. The most recent being when I was teaching a workshop. Emily covered the 3D Studio and as I was leaving a class came in requesting assistance with their projects. Emily took the challenge in stride and picked up right where I left off with their projects. Even with having limited previous knowledge about the class’ project, when I came back from the Workshop she did exactly as I instructed her and it was a seamless transition from where she picked up.”
